Description

Anyone out there experiencing the funness of the issues with Canon Printers in the last week?! Well, you are not alone. On May 31, there was a massive firmware issue with Canon printers. I was a victim of this massive bug well. I researched and scoured the internet like crazy. I looked everywhere trying to find any type of forums or blogs but to no avail. I took matter into my own hands. I unplugged the printer. I held the "Stop" button down while it was unplugged for 30 seconds. I held down "On" button. I had reassign myself to the fact that I'm was going to have to find myself a new printer...and if you looked at pricing or looked to try to find a printer, there's nothing out there. It is a very grim market. It is just another thing that there are shortages everywhere.

I decided to call into Canon support, and they were phenomenal help and awesome human beings!! Incredible customer support and service!

They walked me through everything. Here is what was relayed to me. On May 31, there's was a firmware issue, for lack of better words. It happened to not only my Canon MAXIFY MB2320 but numerous other models. Good news: it's a very easy fix. The reason I couldn't find anything is that my specific model was the main model affected, so there was not a lot out there when searching...damn you SEO and search terms!

I want to walk through how to fix this due to the fact if I couldn't find anything, my guess is others out there are having the same issue of banging their head against the wall not being able to find anything.

1. Unplug your printer for 20 seconds. Now, when I was talking to the representative, I'm sure that it was unplugged for longer than 20 seconds. Simply make sure it is at least 20 seconds. Now plug it back in. For me once it was plugged back in, this was the first time I've been able to move the LCD screen. What was happening before is the MAXIFY LCD screen would come up, and it would cycle through and make this weird, really bizarre sound. The power light would blink and blink. Then, it would stop or it would just go completely black. It never got past the MAXIFY LCD screen.

2. Now that you are maneuver the screen, you're going to scroll over to the "Setup" button.

3. From there, the second option is 'Device Settings Perform Various Settings." Click/Tap it

4. Scroll down to the Third option which is "LAN Settings" Click it

5. Scroll down to the last option called "Other Settings" Click it

8. Click on the Second option "TCP IP Setting"

9. Click on first option "IP4 Settings"

10. A little box comes up and says "LAN communications may be disabled depending on your environment. Set this setting,?" Hit yes

11.Click second setting which says "DNS Server"

12. Most likely yours is set up to "Auto" "Change yours to Manual." I've already changed mine, so mine says "Manual."

13. I don't know how yours is set up, but you're going to want to change your Server Address to 000.000.000.001 Click on the boxes, change the numbers and then hit OK.

14. A box will pop and say "Do you want to set up a secondary server?" Click "No"

15. Processing can take 30 sec

16. It flashes back to DNS "Setting the Following screen. Hit he Home Bottom.

17. Now try printing something..should work! It may 2-3 minutes You are now done with the temporary fix!

18. For permanent fix, you need to download firmware from Canon's site and install this on your printer MANUALLY, not wirelessly. In order to do this, you need have a physical printer cable, which a lot of people don't have on hand.

18A. For me, I would go to Canon's site, sign in, search my MB 2320, toggle from Driver Tab and click on Firmware Tab, download firmware, take that download and transfer that via the cable onto the printer. Call Canon Customer Service and they can help!
